We
offer woodcarvings, roughouts, Helvie woodcarving knives, and woodcarving seminars
at G&B Sears Woodcarving. Welcome to our corner of the woodcarving world.
Throw a log on the fire, grab a cup of coffee, and pull up a chair. We hope you
enjoy your visit with us. I do the carving and Barb does the painting. We are
both self taught.
We have been carving and painting for 40 years. Our first carvings were wildlife
scenes carved on gun stocks. I have also carved realistic animals and western
figures. I have made hunting knives and did a lot of scrimshaw. We have exhibited
at gun and knife shows and woodcarving shows, and have
won many ribbons and awards.
We
live in the beautiful Ozark hills, in Southwest Missouri. This is where Barb was
born and raised, in fact we only live 12 miles from the little cabin where she
was born. I was born in Atchison, Kansas, and grew up in Northeast Kansas, until
I joined the Navy, after graduating from high school at Lawrence. I served on
a mine sweeper stationed at Long Beach, California.
After
returning to civilian life I developed an interest in woodworking, then woodcarving.
Now we make our living doing woodcarving, and teaching carving seminars around
the United States.
We
have enjoyed our visit with you, and hope to meet you down the road sometime at
a woodcarving show or seminar.
